MONADNOCK DESIGNS INSTALLATION FOR FESTIVAL A/D WERF UTRECHT

Festival aan de Werf in Utrecht has invited MONADNOCK for a second time to design an installation on the Neude square in Utrecht. Aiming for a variation of atmospheres, the huge white wall divides the square into three different rooms. The top of the wall is accessible by a boardwalk, providing new perspectives and overviews onto the square. The temporary scaffolded structure covered with recyclable plastic sheeting contains all functions required like bars, kitchen, storage and ticketing, in order to maintain a clear and open space inbetween.

PUBLICATION OASE 83 'COMMISSIONING ARCHITECTURE'

PUBLICATION 'DRAWINGBOOK ON URBAN BUILDINGS'

By invitation of the Architectural Institute Rotterdam (AIR), Monadnock, in collaboration with the Technical University of Delft (TUD), department Public Buildings, developed a format of analysis and drew a series of huge hybrid urban buildings. The selected series shows typical historical examples in Rotterdam and compares them with examples from other parts of the world. The architectural drawing forms the basis of this publication. The layering of functions and systems of circulation are visualised in sections, axonometries and plans, offering insight in the public inner-worlds of these buildings.

MONADNOCK WINS COMPETITION FOR A LANDMARK IN NIEUW BERGEN

The renewal of the centre of Nieuw Bergen, a small municipality in the province of Limburg, formed the motive for Concept-nl to invite six architects and designers to propose a new landmark. This landmark will emphasize the identity of the village and allow public acces to its tower, offering inhabitants and visitors an impressive view of the surrounding natural reserves. The winning sketch-design of Monadnock proposes an accurate combination of high and low in one volume. The base connects to the small-scale intimacy of the market square, while the tower will be visible from great distances.
